Hands up if you experience trouble sleeping or are you a 2am all nighter?…..and  no, I don’t mean falling in bed after a night out!

You find yourself rushing around all day, 101 jobs to get through and not enough hours in the day?  No wonder many of us are finding it more difficult to get a restful sleep.

Unable to Sleep

When you finally ready get to get into bed, you find yourself lying in bed unable to sleep finding yourself counting sheep, clock watching, thoughts of what you did and didn’t  do during the day thoughts going through your head  what needs to be done the following day.

Read a Book

Don’t stress about it!   Get out of bed, go into another room, pick up a book and do a little reading until you feel sleepy or put on some relaxing tunes.  Don’t listen to the kettle shouting you!!  Avoid making a cup of tea or coffee as this stimulates the brain and will prevent you from drifting off.

You could try meditation this could help you to get a good night sleep.  Meditation helps to quiet the mind, relaxes the body and, decrease stress hormones.  Helping you to drift off to sleep more easily.

Meditate for around 10 minutes before bedtime, play some meditation music.  Close eyes, inhale deeply and exhale deeply this helps the body to relax, lowering heart rate and blood pressure.

After getting a good night sleep, you will feel refreshed, have energy, and help you to cope with the day ahead.

Another Technique for relieving stress is Yoga.  Yoga isn’t just for improving core strength, flexibility and stress levels, it can too can help you to sleep better.  You could make Yoga part of your bedtime routine….

However, it is important to note that there are different kinds of Yoga as some yoga styles are energising such as vigorous Vinyasa & Hot Yoga therefore preventing you to sleep.  ‘Hatha Yoga’ and ‘Nidra Yoga’ will help you to relax and float off to sleep.

Here are a few tips that may help you.
